It is said that there’s an infinite number of doors to liberation. With that in mind Postmodestie makes mindful games.
But first, here is a picture of a cat:
Postmodestie creates tangible experiences that help calming the mind and capture the beauty and essence of the various traditions of awareness at the same time.
Playing a monk in a Buddhist temple for example, raking the garden under the watchful eyes of the master and practising concentration through Zen Archery, arranging flowers etc.
There are so many possibilities: Sims-style role-playing games, adventure, action, platformer and even Tamagotchis that remind us regularly to be mindful.
Why not meditate together in an open-world game to level up?
What we don’t want to make are interactive courses in meditation or Yoga, like to-do lists that explain for the n-th time why it is so beneficial for ones health and world peace. Not that it isn’t, but there’s plenty of that already! Likewise, we don’t fancy games where you float through a myriad of colorful lights, accompanied by an ethereal, interactive soundtrack.
In fact, we want to develop the Super Mario games of awareness: meet the Lil’ Monk.
The Lil Monk is and will be featured front and center in many adventures, where he’ll be meditating, raking, cooking, practicing Taiji and much more.
Mindful, meditation games are still a very small niche that excite almost nobody. We want to change that, to experiment; prototyping until the games become not only fun to play but are meaningful to explore, conveying a spirit of serenity, awareness and calmness, hopefully transporting basic psychological truths as a by-product, like the simple fact that we think way too much and therefore judge ourselves and others constantly. We think, we can always do with more reminders that the mind is more than an instrument for survival and that we are able to compete without an immidiate goal, and what better way than through games, which in themselves are meant to train the young but relax the old?
Check out our Apps & Games site to see already available examples of such games.
We shall not cease until all beings are free! The road is long and the sooner we embark, the sooner we may toss the vehicle.
